First timing trying their burgers. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Great flavors and great proportions. Also comes with a small side of kimchi. Very satisfied and will come back again!
Overall 10/10. We went on New Year's Day and was happy to see they were open. One of the staff was outside to greet us and all three of them were super friendly. They all seemed like they genuinely loved being there. They were happy to chat about their products and offered to cut our burgers in half so we could share easily. We probably waited about 5 minutes for our food and browsed the store while we waited. Take out only but there are some picnic benches across the street. The burgers were hands down some of, if not the best burgers we've had. We ordered one of each. Super flavorful, great char, the perfect burger. The smash burger was your classic burger done to perfection; my husband's favorite. I loved the butcher's burger; still a classic burger with some additional flavor. We also got their fries which were tasty. The burgers come with chips so overall decent value. Our new go to spot during the day for burgers, and we're excited to try Niku Steakhouse one of these days. They also had beef tallow chocolate chip cookies. Ours was warm, which made it so tasty! It had caramel notes on it, little crispy on the outside, and nice and soft in the middle. A solid cookie I would purchase again. Overall, we're so glad we tried this and wish we'd gone sooner. Would definitely be returning when the burger craving strikes.
This is the best butcher in SF. The meats are amazing and the service was excellent. Thanks for the recipe outstanding! I'll be back for more...
Updated to a five! Was brought to my attention that the lunch service is more of a side thing to thank their customers. Would recommend this place 100% The food and service here were 5/5. The gentleman greeting and taking orders was kind and efficient! We went on a Saturday around 12 and there was 0 line. Smash burger is definitely the star of this restraunt. Ambiance in the restraunt itself was pleasant - there aren't places to sit though indoors Only knock one star off because of lack of dining areas. Will definitely be coming back though and getting waygu burger meat to go and cook at home.
I finally had the chance to try Niku's butcher shop, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the wagyu burger with fries, and both were delicious. The burger was juicy, with the side of kimchi balancing the richness of the wagyu. The fries, cooked in wagyu fat, were also delicious. I had hoped to try the wagyu cookie, but they had just run out and were making more at the time. It came to about $40 for the burger and fries, which is a bit pricey, but definitely worth the experience!
After a memorable trip to Niku next door a few months ago, we knew that we needed to visit this butcher. We have a fresh appreciation for wagyu after returning from a trip to Japan and know that this butcher is likely the only place that can come close to recreating our trip's foodie experience. The knickknack decor is delightful and charming. The meat itself is absolutely top-notch. Expect to pay top dollar for top-tier goods. If you are looking for the best quality protein in the city, here it is! You will not be let down.
I am so glad I stopped by for a bite. My manager Emmanuel mentioned how great both burgers and fries are made here so I ordered a smash burger and fries, and they were both were amazing. The employees here are very helpful and welcoming and the ambiance is of an upscale butcher shop where they have you wait outside for your order. I give this shop 5 stars because everything about this experience was worth the hefty price tag.
This is one of the verified authenticated butcher shops that sell A5 Wagyu and all assortments of expensive cuts. This place is pretty cool to check out for your meat needs however they serve food as well! Important: They serve food only on Tuesday-Saturday 11 AM-4 PM! Ambiance: It's an upscaled modern butcher shop, there are displays of all the upper echelon of meat cuts to exist here. Service: Everyone was friendly and felt like a neighborhood spot for locals to buy Wagyu fat fried fries $11 (9/10): This is the first time I had fries fried in lard just like the old days, it was delicious. I haven't had anything like these before, the crisp lasts for a long time. It does have a meaty taste to it. The kewpie added on top with shisho powder gave the fries a rich flavor, wasn't able to eat too much with it due to being so rich. It's enough to feed 3 people and comes in large portions If I had the money, I would splurge to get those beautifully marbled cuts. What's cool is that they sell A5 wagyu fat ($5) and butcher's butter ($12) at an affordable price. Will come back here again to try their famous burgers!
I find the meats here overpriced relative to my local butcher shop, but was curious to try out their burgers. We got the smashburger, butcher's burger, and the fries. The smashburger was solid - super rich and flavorful, the grilled onions were a nice touch. The butcher's burger was unfortunately quite soggy, the meat released a lot of liquid that soaked through the bun. It also lacked the flavor of the smashburger, I think it could have used a pinch of salt. But the meat itself was super juicy and rich. The fries were solid, nice and crispy. Note the burgers are pretty pricy at $25.99 for a takeout only burger (plus a bag of chips and a side of kimchi).
